Tips to prepare your garden for spring
As every year, the rigors of winter have left their mark on your garden. With the days getting longer, the temperatures are cooling (a little) and the sun gradually reappearing, it's time to wake up your garden and prepare it for the beautiful season. Here are the essential steps you need to take to prepare your garden.
Your garden also needs a spring cleaning!
The cold, the wind, the snow have certainly sown their lot of damage in your garden: weakened or broken branches, accumulated debris, weeds... It's time to take a big swistick on all this! You can prepare your garden in a few simple but essential steps, which will allow you to make the most of the beautiful season:
- Trim trees and shrubs, remove damaged stems, allow vegetation to breathe, and help it regrow and bloom more easily and healthier.
- Clean the soil in your garden by weeding and cleaning up piles of dead leaves other debris.
- Prepare the land for your future plantings: build the land to turn it over and aerate it for the new plantings you want to make when the time is right.
Before you take action, also consider checking the status of your tools! It is always better to be well prepared, and a material in good condition, clean and ready to use, will save you unnecessary effort. Also make sure your sprinkler system is up and running and has not been damaged by frost and cold.
Take advantage of spring to reinvent your garden
After a season of inaction, it's time to wake up your garden! It's time to have new ideas: an ornamental pool? A vegetable garden square? Spring is the season when you dare!
Plan the organization of your garden. If you have the opportunity, try to change the location of your plantations from year to year so as not to deplete your land. Think about changing the types of plants you want to grow, always with the aim of sparing your land. A little change is always nice! To prepare well, do not hesitate to make a plan of your new garden to make sure you have the necessary space for your various projects (flowerbed, vegetable garden ...).
