Heating fluids and materials stored in Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), commonly known as IBC containers, is a common necessity in the industry. Whether it is for frost protection of sensitive products, keeping the temperature at a constant level or heating a specific process, a reliable solution is required. However, in environments classified as ATEX hazardous areas, safety is the top priority. The IBC ATEX series of container heaters meets precisely this dual requirement: it provides high thermal performance while guaranteeing total safety and rigorous compliance with the strictest standards. This heating jacket is tailor-made for the dimensions of a standard 1000 liter IBC container, ensuring optimal contact and highly efficient heating efficiency.
The use of electrical equipment in a potentially explosive atmosphere requires specific certifications and protective devices. These IBC heaters are approved with an EC type-examination certificate in accordance with Annex III of Directive 2014/34/EU (RL 2014/34/EU). This ensures that the product has been designed and tested to operate safely under ATEX conditions. The device is built to be robust, flexible and dissipative, and can be used with confidence both inside and outside the facility. In addition, it has an IP65/I rating, which means that it is dustproof and protected against water jets, an essential asset in sometimes harsh industrial environments and exposed to weather or cleaning.
The range of IBC ATEX container heaters offers impressive temperature flexibility, adapting to a wide variety of materials and processes. It provides efficient heating over a wide temperature range, from -40°C for effective frost protection, to +180°C and even +200°C for steel IBCs. For IBC plastic containers, often used for less aggressive chemicals or food, the maximum operating temperature is set at +80°C, a safe threshold for the plastic material in the tank. This versatility makes it ideally suited for demanding industries such as oil and gas, chemical, and pharmaceuticals, where precise temperature control is crucial for substance quality and integrity.
The ATEX IBC Container Heater series is designed for wide compatibility. It can be used with a variety of types and manufacturers of standard 1000 liter IBC containers. To further optimize thermal efficiency, the insulating cover is available as an add-on and can be added as an option. One of the major advantages for the user is the simplicity of integration: the container heater is delivered fully configured and ready for use. There are no complex additional acceptance procedures to be expected after purchase, allowing for quick and hassle-free commissioning on site. The product is available in different voltage ratings (230 VAC by default), capacities, power ratings and dimensions, allowing customization according to the specifics of your installation.
The device is designed to meet the requirements of temperature classes T6, T5, T4 and T3, with the actual class depending on the temperature setting of the limiter. These classifications are crucial to prevent the ignition of gases, vapours or dusts in the environment. For precise and safe control of the heating process, the series is designed for use with an ATEX controller. This controller, which can be purchased separately from us or integrated into the user's control system, is essential for continuous temperature adjustment and monitoring. The container heater is equipped with separate electrical connection terminal boxes for the grid (EX-e) and sensor (EX-i), and incorporates two Pt100 sensors for reliable redundancy and monitoring. The sensors themselves use intrinsically safe (EX-i), while their connection is also of the EX-e type.
Delivered without controller, the 23-4258 controller is mandatory. Comes with cable 3m without plug
