Use: Garden
Difficulty: Easy
Benefit: Variety originating in Japan, close to the potimarron.
Companion plants: Pumpkins like the proximity of corn and potatoes.
Sowing period: March to June
Harvest period: September to November
Lift: 6-8 days
Exposure: Sun
Watering: Medium
Temperature: 15oC
Soil: All types of soils.
Yield: 8 feet
1. I sow:
Sow from March to June, in the middle of the earth, in poquets.
2. I talk:
At the 4-5 leaf stage, keep only the most vigorous plants and space them 2 x 2 m. Trim over the second sheet to cause the birth of a second arm. When the fruit appears, prune the twigs that carry them over each fruit. Water regularly, and straw under each fruit to retain moisture.
3. I harvest:
Harvest from September to November, before frosts. Squash can be stored in a dry room, sheltered from the cold.
Tricks:
Taste cooked flesh, soups, purées, gratins or pies.
Avoid sowing on the compost heap, the squash would be drained of its nutrients.
