The ACTO large-capacity fly trap and its 75 g attractant refill, together. Normally sold apart: without bait, a trap catches almost nothing.
Up to 800 catches a week — flies, wasps, European hornets. Reusable trap with protective roof and wall fixing. Yeast-based attractant, three 25 g doses, each dissolved in 300 ml of water.
Set it at the edge of the area to protect, never in the middle. Allow about three days of fermentation before full effect.
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
This pack brings together the ACTO large-capacity fly trap and the 75 g attractant refill that makes it work. The two are normally sold separately, and that is the source of a common misunderstanding: a trap delivered without bait catches almost nothing.
The ACTO trap is neither an electrical device nor a sticky one. It is a closed reservoir that insects enter, drawn by a smell. Take the smell away and all that remains is an empty container: colour alone does not fill a trap.
That is the whole point of putting them together. You receive the device and what it takes to prime it, without ordering two references or discovering on delivery that the essential part is missing.
Sized for outdoor spaces, it is rated at up to 800 insects a week when properly primed. It targets house flies, wasps and European hornets.
It comes with a protective roof that stops rain diluting the mixture, a holder for solid baits if you prefer that method, and the fixing accessories to hang it on a wall or suspend it. The whole thing is reusable: empty, rinse, prime again.
The refill is a 75 g wettable powder based on Saccharomyces cerevisiae, in other words yeast. The sachet divides into three 25 g doses, each to be dissolved in 300 ml of water.
One point many users miss, and which explains most of the disappointment of the first days: the mixture has to ferment before it works, which takes about three days. A trap primed in the morning will not give its best that same evening. So prepare it a few days before you need it, not on the day of the meal on the terrace.
The right spot is away from the area you want to protect, not in the middle of it. A trap set on the table draws insects towards your guests: put it on the edge, a few metres off, preferably in the sun and sheltered from strong wind.
It is meant for terraces, balconies and poolsides, for compost areas and around bins. Keep it out of reach of children and pets, as with any device holding a preparation.
The mixture is renewed regularly: count on a change every fortnight to keep it attractive, the liquid losing its power as catches and evaporation go on. Empty the reservoir, rinse it with clean water, then make up a fresh dose.
With its three doses, the sachet supplied covers several renewals. Attractant refills are available separately in our catalogue, to carry the season on without buying another trap.
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
