The FLOX log holder by Cookking, a rectangular tray 80 cm wide and only 40 cm high : it goes under a window, a console table or a worktop, where an upright store will not fit.
Two compartments side by side, separated by a divider : large logs on one side, kindling on the other. Both have a sheet-steel base, so no bark or chips on the floor.
Solid steel bars, fully welded, no screws. Powder-coated steel stated by the manufacturer to resist damp and bad weather : indoors as well as outdoors. Delivered assembled, around 9 kg.
The FLOX log holder by Cookking (Reference : 333255) is an open rectangular tray in solid steel bars, 80 cm wide and only 40 cm high, with a depth of 25 cm. A vertical divider splits it into two compartments, and each one rests on a solid sheet-steel plate.
This is the dimension that decides where you can put it, and it is what sets this model apart from upright stores. At 40 cm, the FLOX goes under a window, under a console table, under a worktop or under a fireplace ledge. It does not block the view, it does not cover a radiator, it does not throw a low wall out of balance.
Its 25 cm depth works the same way : it sits flat against a wall without encroaching on the walkway. If on the contrary you are looking for a store that fills the space and is meant to be seen, then a tall model is what you want — our round log holder, 82 cm high, plays that part.
The vertical divider separates the tray into two compartments side by side. The obvious use is to separate the sizes : the large logs on one side, the kindling on the other. You take what you need without rummaging, and above all without undoing the pile.
The detail that really counts lies elsewhere : both compartments are fitted with a protective steel plate, not just one. The bark that comes away, the chips, the wood dust and the dry soil do not fall on the floor. On a wooden floor, light-coloured tiles or a boarded terrace, that is the difference between a clean store and a permanent black mark.
The structure is in fully welded solid steel bars, with no screwed parts at all. This is not a mere manufacturing detail : a bolted assembly develops play under a permanent load, and a store of dry wood easily weighs several tens of kilos for months on end. Welded, the tray keeps its geometry, loaded as well as empty.
A practical consequence : it arrives assembled at the factory. Nothing to put together, no tool to get out, no instructions to decipher. You stand it where you want it and you fill it.
The coating goes on as a powder and is then cured with heat : a hard layer, not a surface paint. The manufacturer claims resistance to damp, changing weather and knocks. Sitting on the ground, this tray takes far more splashing than a tall model, and that is exactly where such a finish is judged : indoors by the insert, outdoors on the terrace.
Something the instructions leave out : outside, avoid standing it straight on a slab that holds water. A tray this low sits only centimetres above the ground, and rising damp works away underneath, where nobody ever looks. Two shims, decking boards or a bed of gravel are enough to keep air moving.
Here it sits alongside the Cookking fire bowls and outdoor fireplaces. Taking them together is a matter of comfort rather than of matching sets : an evening outside is spent reloading, and walking across the garden for every log is enough to spoil it.
Indoors, its low height takes it where a tall rack will not fit : level with an insert, under a chimney breast, against the side of a stove without blocking the door. It comes from the European workshops of Cookking, who make nothing but hearths and what goes with them.
This item is not held in our warehouses : it leaves directly from the manufacturer. Allow for the lead time shown on the product page. The whole weighs around 9 kg, so it travels by carrier but stays easy to move once you have it — empty, an adult carries it in one hand.
