TIPI tripod barbecue 210 cm Cookking - Straight legs, hanging grill

The TIPI is recognisable from a distance : its three legs are straight and cross at the top, where the other models are curved and finished with forged scrolls. It stands 210 cm tall, and it is the lightest of its kind at 10 kg empty.

An outline, not an ornament

The difference is first of all visual, and it is deliberate. The straight legs draw a clean triangle crossing above the grill, in the spirit of a tipi — hence the name. Nothing forged, nothing wrought : lines, and that is all.

If your garden leans contemporary, with a wooden deck and plain furniture, this model sits there better than a tripod with scrolls, which belongs to a rustic register.

Ten kilos, and it matters more than you would think

With its smallest grill, the whole weighs 10 kg. That is the weight of a well-filled bag of shopping, and one to three kilos less than the other tripods in the range.

That lightness is not useful every day — but it decides what you will do with the thing. A tripod you lift one-handed gets moved during the evening to escape the smoke, stows away effortlessly, and comes along for the weekend. A heavy tripod stays where it is.

The flip side : the lighter a tripod, the more care the footing deserves. On soft ground, push the points well in and check it stands true before hanging a large loaded grill.

Two hundred and ten centimetres

That is ten centimetres more than the usual models, and it translates into a longer adjustment travel : the grill can go higher above the embers, which helps for slow cooking, improvised smoking, or simply putting a dish out of reach while you plate up.

The grill comes in 50, 60, 70 or 80 cm, with 5 mm steel bars. Fire on the ground, wood or charcoal.

The tripod is powder-coated and folds in half for storage. It is made in Europe.
