A stainless steel grill hung under a 180 cm tripod. Stainless does away with the ritual of oiling the grill after use : it does not rust between two seasons and can be scraped without ceremony.
4 mm bars, diameters 50, 60, 70 or 80 cm. Stainless does not improve the cooking : it removes the upkeep.
180 cm, the lowest of our tripods, so less wind resistance. Folds in half. From 11 to 12.5 kg.
Here the grill is stainless steel, and that is the only thing that really sets this model apart. The tripod stands 180 cm, the bars are 4 mm, and the grill hangs on a chain above a fire built on the ground.
An ordinary steel grill has to be oiled after each use and dried before being put away, or it rusts. Next spring it needs brushing before you cook on it. That is the ritual known to everyone who has owned a barbecue for long.
Stainless does away with that ritual. You can let it take a shower of rain, brush it dry, scrape it hard : it will not pit. For anyone who keeps their equipment outside under a canopy, or who has no wish to maintain a leisure object, that is the decisive argument.
On the other hand, stainless does not cook better. Searing depends on the mass of the metal and the heat of the fire, not on the grade of steel. Do not take this model hoping for a different result on the plate : take it so as not to have to bother with it.
The bars here are 4 mm, against 5 on the black steel versions. The gap is small but real : a slightly thinner grill stores slightly less heat. In practice it shows on a thick cut laid on a cold grill — let it heat up properly before you put anything on, and the difference disappears.
It is the least tall model we offer as a tripod. A lower top means a lower centre of gravity and less purchase for the wind : in an exposed garden or by the sea, that is a genuine quality.
The trade-off is a slightly shorter adjustment travel between the high and low positions of the grill. For ordinary cooking it remains ample.
The grill comes in 50, 60, 70 or 80 cm. The tripod is powder-coated — it is the stand that is coated, not the grill, which stays bare stainless — and it folds in half. Fire with wood or charcoal, on any flat surface.
The whole weighs 11 to 12.5 kg. It is made in Europe. This item is not kept in our warehouses : it ships from the manufacturer, so check the lead time announced on this page.
