Filling: Use a mix of garden soil (50%), mature compost (30%) and sand or vermiculite (20%) to obtain a free-draining, fertile growing medium. Fill to within 2-3 cm of the top edge to make watering easier and avoid spillage.

Caring for the wood: Natural wood weathers to a grey tone under the effect of the elements, without any loss of structural strength. An annual brushing with clean water is enough to keep it clean. Avoid chemical treatments, which could contaminate your crops.
