Installation and practical use

Installation requires no tools. Simply interlock the boards following the natural stacking principle. Choose a location that receives 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day for most vegetables. Check that the ground is relatively flat to ensure the stability of the bed.

Place a geotextile membrane or cardboard at the bottom to limit unwanted weeds while allowing drainage. Fill with a mixture of potting soil, compost and garden soil of good quality. The 78 litres are filled with approximately 60-65 litres of growing medium, leaving space for watering.

For maintenance, natural wood evolves over time, taking on a natural grey patina. This patina protects the wood without altering its properties. Partially renew the growing medium each season by adding fresh compost to maintain fertility.

Expert tips and optimisation

To maximise harvests, practise square foot gardening by dividing the space into 16 zones of 25x10cm. This method allows you to grow 16 radish plants, 9 lettuces or 4 cherry tomato plants depending on the chosen species. Alternate fast-growing crops (radishes, spinach) and slow-growing ones (tomatoes, courgettes) to optimise space use.
