The ACTO UV light glue trap supplied with six replacement glue boards: enough to last a full year without buying anything else. The ultraviolet light draws in flies, gnats and mosquitoes, which stay stuck on the board.
No insecticide, no noise, no smell: you plug it in and forget about it. Kitchen, food retail, conservatory, surgery — anywhere an aerosol would be out of place.
ACTO Pack UV Light Glue Trap + 6 Boards - 12 months of protection (Reference: LAMP12PACK)
A light trap is only as good as its board. A board saturates in two months: after that the unit stays lit, keeps attracting insects, but no longer holds anything. That is why this pack brings together the unit and six glue boards, that is twelve months of genuine operation — not twelve months of a lit indicator.
Night-flying insects navigate by ultraviolet light. The tube inside the trap emits at that wavelength, invisible to us but irresistible to a fly or a gnat. The insect comes closer, lands, and stays stuck.
Where an aerosol works for a few hours and leaves a smell, the trap works continuously, with no product. That is what makes it acceptable in a kitchen, a pastry workshop, a waiting room or a bedroom — places where you simply do not spray.
A glue board stays effective for about two months in normal use. Past that, the surface gets covered in dust and insects, the glue loses its grip, and the trap becomes nothing more than a night light. Six boards therefore cover twelve months.
In practice, the board needs changing faster in summer than in winter. Trust your eyes rather than the calendar: as soon as three quarters of the surface is taken, replace it. The used board goes out with the household waste, with no special handling.
The rule fits in one sentence: the trap must be the most visible light source in the room. Next to a window in broad daylight, it catches nothing. Place it away from the main lighting instead, one to two metres off the floor, where the insects come in.
Avoid direct draughts, which scatter flying insects before they reach the board. And leave it switched on: it works best at night, and it draws no more power than a night light.
It is formidable against flying insects drawn to light: flies, fungus gnats, mosquitoes, small moths. That is most of what circles around a kitchen or a conservatory in season.
It does nothing against crawling insects — cockroaches, ants, spiders — nor against wasps, which do not respond to UV the same way. For those you need a bait or a dedicated aerosol. Better to know that before buying than to be disappointed afterwards.
