Four S60x6 male-outlet fittings to fit out a bank of tanks in one go. The pack size for serious installations : rainwater harvesting across several IBCs, farms, building sites, local authorities.
Four parts in a single 160 g parcel, where four separate orders would mean paying the carrier four times.
Set of 4 S60x6 Fittings with male outlet for 1000-litre IBC tanks (Reference: 100247x4) is aimed at those who are not plumbing one tank, but a fleet of tanks. Past two IBCs — farm, plant nursery, building site, municipal grounds — buying fittings one at a time becomes a waste of both time and money.
Four fittings cover the most common layout for harvesting banks : four 1000-litre tanks in a row, that is four cubic metres of reserve. Each tank keeps its own draw-off point, which saves having to unplug everything to get at the next one.
On a site or a farm, it is also the quantity that lets you build the whole installation in one pass. No follow-up order, no waiting on a delivery halfway through the build, no tank left unusable for want of one small part.
One fitting weighs forty grams. Four weigh one hundred and sixty grams — still the smallest shipping format there is. Carriage therefore costs the same for four parts as for one, whereas four separate orders would be charged for it four times over.
On a part at this price, the saving on carriage far outweighs the saving on the product. That is the real reason to buy four at a time, well ahead of the discount applied to the pack.
With four fittings, two layouts become possible. Mounted in parallel, each tank has its own fitting and its own valve, and you draw wherever you like : this is the most flexible set-up, and the easiest to work around if a tank has to be moved.
In series, the tanks are interconnected by flexible hoses fitted on these same outlets, and the level balances out on its own. A single outlet point then feeds the whole bank. In that case keep the tanks at the same height, otherwise they will fill unevenly.
The high-density polyethylene withstands permanent exposure : ultraviolet light, frost, heat, the plant residues in rainwater. On an outdoor installation left in place for several years, that is what sets it apart from a budget fitting.
Fitting is done by hand, without tools, on the 2’’ S60x6 female thread standard on IBCs. Do not tighten with pliers : HDPE marks. Before the first frosts, drain the fittings on tanks no longer in service : water turning to ice inside a thread splits it.
