1. I sow:
Sow in lines from April to July, under cold chassis for an early crop. Or in a nursery from May to July, in the middle of the earth, on sunny exposure, for a seasonal culture.
2. I talk:
Plant in the ground 3 weeks later with a spread of 40 x 40 cm. Water regularly, especially in hot weather to avoid seeding. 10 days before harvest, blanch salads to remove the bitterness of the leaves (deprive the heart of the plant with light by placing an opaque bell).
3. I harvest:
Harvest 12 to 14 weeks after sowing and once salads are blanched.
Tricks:
Surround wood ash plants to control low leaf pests, such as moths and slugs.
On pain of an early flowering (seed climb), which makes the products unconsumable, the germination of chicory seeds must be very fast. If the seedlings are slow to rise, don't hesitate to start over.
To prevent heart rot, whiten salads only when the foliage is perfectly dry.
