Cookking 180 cm Tripod Barbecue - two steel grills, 70 or 80 cm

A steel tripod of 180 cm supplied with two grills: a large one, and a small one of 40 cm. The small grill is not there to grill more : it is there so you no longer have to rush. You park what is cooked on it, away from the flames, while you finish the rest.

What the small 40 cm grill is really for

Over a single fire, everything that is ready goes cold while you cook what follows. The second grill, 40 cm, sits in a less exposed zone : the finished pieces wait there, warm, without cooking any further.

It does the same service the other way round, for whatever will not take a fierce flame — thin vegetables, bread, sausages already coloured. You work at two temperatures without moving a single ember.

Two surfaces, two cooks

With two separate grills, two people no longer get in each other's way. That is plain enough to write, less plain to live with when a single grill forces each of you to wait your turn over the same fire.

The usable surface exceeds that of a single grill of the same footprint, because the small one sits back from the centre, where a large one would not fit. Each hangs from its own chain and is adjusted separately, so one can stay high, far from the embers, while the other comes down onto the flame.

5 mm bars and a folding tripod

The bars are 5 mm, in natural steel. The steel is not coated : it darkens with use, and it asks to be wiped and then stored dry between seasons.

The tripod is powder-coated and folds in half. Three legs settle on uneven ground with no adjustment, which counts for more than you would think on a lawn or on gravel.

Choosing between 70 and 80 cm

Only the large grill changes : 70 or 80 cm. The small one stays at 40 cm in both cases, and the height of the tripod at 180 cm.

The weight goes from 15 to 15.5 kg depending on the size. The forged elements of the tripod are decorative and change nothing in use : it is the large grill that decides.
