A “1/2 inch” thread does not measure 12.7 mm: it measures 20.96 mm. An S60x6 IBC tank cap looks like a 2-inch thread, but the two will not screw together. These mix-ups cost time, return shipping and sometimes a leak. The Multitanks Find my fitting tool was built to answer one simple question: how do I connect what I have to what I want, without knowing the name of the part?

🔍 The problem everyone has run into

You have a 1,000-litre IBC tank in front of you and you want to connect it to a garden hose. The tank cap is marked S60x6, but no garden hose carries that marking. You look for an adapter, you do not know what it is called, and you end up ordering nothing — or ordering the wrong part.

The same scenario repeats with BSP and NPT threads, Camlock and Guillemin couplings or PE pipe. Each family has its own dimensions, its own thread pitch and its own male / female conventions. We have published two detailed guides on the subject — stop confusing BSP, NPT and gas threads and identify the thread on your IBC tank — but reading a guide takes time when the part is already in your hand: that is exactly what the tool spares you.

🔧 What the tool actually does

The tool offers three ways in, depending on your situation:

You do not know what you have: you pick a picture from visual categories (IBC tank, garden hose, plumbing, quick coupling, Camlock, fire-service equipment…) and the tool identifies the type of fitting. You have a marking but no callipers: you type “20/27”, “3/4 inch”, “S60x6” or “26.4 mm” into the thread converter, and the tool tells you which standard it matches. You know what you have and what you want: you select both ends and the male / female direction of each, and the tool looks for the part that joins them.

The database covers 589 products, 3,380 connections and 131 threads: BSP (gas thread), NPT, S60x6, S100x8, Camlock, Guillemin, pressure PVC, PE pipe and hose tails. When no single part connects A to B directly, the tool proposes a two- or three-part solution, checks that the male / female directions match, shows the total and lets you add the whole set to the basket in one go.

1️⃣ Live prices and availability

Prices are shown in real time, with an ex-VAT / inc-VAT toggle. You add to the basket straight from the results, without going through a product page.

2️⃣ Material filter for professionals

Stainless steel, brass, malleable iron, PVC, plastic, aluminium: a dedicated filter lets you build a homogeneous line, which matters when a specification requires a single material throughout the installation.

3️⃣ Recommended seal at every joint

For every fitting proposed, the matching seal is offered as an option. Nothing to look up separately: sealing is built into the selection.

📒 And if you do not own callipers?

The tool provides a printable thread template (three-page PDF, actual size). Place your fitting on the sheet, compare its diameter with the printed circles, and identify the thread without any measuring instrument. A practical answer for work in the field or in a workshop with no metrology equipment.

💡 Multitanks tip

If you run an installation with several draw-off points — for example IBC tanks feeding a watering network — use the material filter to keep a single type all along the chain. It makes maintenance easier and avoids chemical incompatibilities between materials (brass and aluminium, for instance, do not always sit well together in damp conditions).

🌎 Available in five languages

The tool is available in French, English, Spanish, Italian and German, each at its own address, with product names and prices in the chosen language. If you work with foreign teams or suppliers, you can send the link straight in your contact's language.

The main fitting families at Multitanks are included: brass, 316 stainless steel, malleable iron, pressure PVC, polypropylene and aluminium, along with IBC tank accessories. You do not have to browse several categories: the tool makes the selection for you, and every result links back to the product page if you want to check the details.

👉 Try it now

Next time you have a fitting in your hand without knowing its name, or you need to join two parts built to different standards, do not waste time: go to Find my fitting and let the tool do the searching. No sign-up, and the result goes into the basket in one click.
