    An IBC tank does not come with a tap, it comes with a drain valve. Big, at ground level, and with nothing to connect a garden hose to. This kit extends it with a riser of rigid tubes ending in a proper valve and a 25 mm barbed elbow.

    You gain a water point you can use standing up, with a hose that stays in place by itself.

    An IBC tank comes with a drain valve, not a tap. This kit replaces it with a riser of rigid tubes ending in a handle valve and a barbed elbow, at hand height and clear of the pallet frame.

    What the original valve cannot do

    The outlet of an IBC tank was never designed for drawing off water. It is a drain valve : a big quarter-turn valve meant to release a thousand litres into a tractor tank, not to fill a watering can. Three things make it tiresome day to day.

    • It does not take a hose. Its diameter and thread match nothing you find in the watering aisle.
    • It does not meter. A quarter turn goes from nothing to everything, and what overflows ends up on the ground.
    • It sits at ground level. Nothing fits underneath, and you have to crouch to reach it.

    This kit does not tinker with the original valve : it screws on in its place, on the bung, and replaces it with an assembly designed for everyday use.

    A proper tap, and a hose that stays put

    At the end of the riser, a ball valve with handle replaces the drain quarter-turn valve. It operates with one hand and can be set anywhere between closed and open, which is enough to fill a container without overflowing it.

    Behind it, a 25 mm barbed elbow takes a flexible hose of the same diameter and sends it downwards. The hose drops naturally instead of pulling on the fitting, and it stays in place when it fills.

    Height achieved with tubes, not with a flexible hose

    The riser is made of two threaded tubes and two screwed elbows. That is what sets it apart from a flexible extension : once tightened, it no longer moves. It keeps its plumb when a full hose pulls on it, and it does not go out of adjustment from one season to the next.

    The upright passes above the lower bar of the frame, the crosspiece comes out on the outside. Result : the valve is clear, a watering can fits underneath standing up, and nothing strains against the structure of the pallet any more.

    What the kit contains

    Eight parts, delivered together. Nothing else is needed on a tank whose bung is the S60x6 standard.

    • one bung adapter ;
    • two rigid threaded tubes, the upright and the crosspiece ;
    • two elbows, at the foot and at the top ;
    • one connecting sleeve ;
    • one ball valve with handle ;
    • one 25 mm barbed elbow as outlet.

    One outlet or two?

    This kit gives one draw-off point, and that is what you need when the tank serves one purpose at a time : watering cans, bucket, rinsing equipment, filling a sprayer.

    There is a version that adds a second, threaded outlet at the foot of the riser. It is worth the extra cost if you leave a hose connected permanently, if you run drip irrigation, or if you want to screw on a quick coupling for good — in other words if the tank feeds two things that do not run at the same pace.

    Fitting and use

    Assembly is entirely screwed, with no glue and no special tool. You start with the adapter on the bung, then build the riser up piece by piece, finishing with the barbed elbow. Allow a few minutes.

    Dismantling is just as direct, which matters when it is time to winterise the tank or move it. The whole assembly is made of polypropylene and intended for water ; for any other liquid, make sure it is compatible with the material and the gaskets before ordering.

    Check the thread on your tanks

    Before ordering, a one-minute check saves a return. This kit screws onto the S60x6 thread, known as the "artillery pitch", which fits the great majority of 1,000 litre tanks sold in France — but not all of them.

    S60x6 thread on an IBC tank: diameter D1 and pitch P1

    Two marks are enough to recognise it, and they are measured on your tank outlet with the cap removed :

    D1 — outer diameter of the thread60 mm
    P1 — pitch, from one thread to the next6 mm

    A pitch of 6 mm gives wide threads, few in number, visible to the naked eye : that is the simplest sign. If your tank ends differently — cam lock, DIN thread, gas pitch — the kit will not screw straight onto it : an adapter has to be fitted in between, and we stock them.

    Identify your thread with our matching tool : you enter what you measure, it tells you which part to fit in between.
