Vilmorin Repotting Compost for Green and Flowering Houseplants - 10 Litre Bag (Reference: 6400710)
This professional Vilmorin compost represents excellence in substrates for houseplants. Developed to the most demanding standards and certified NF U 44-551, it is the ideal solution for all your repotting projects, whether decorative green plants or flowering indoor varieties.
This repotting compost is aimed at all indoor gardening enthusiasts, from beginners to experienced gardeners. It is perfectly suited to repotting green plants such as ficus, pothos, monstera or dracaena, as well as flowering indoor plants such as cyclamen, indoor azaleas or begonias.
Thanks to its balanced composition, this substrate encourages root development and stimulates plant growth. Plants repotted with this compost benefit from optimal nutrition for several months, allowing harmonious foliage development and generous flowering for the species concerned.
The formulation of this compost is based on a balanced mix of quality raw materials. The base consists of blond and brown peat, which provide excellent water retention, with a water-holding capacity of 680 mL/L. The composted bark improves the structure of the substrate and encourages aeration, while the Greenpeat contributes to the organic enrichment.
The addition of pozzolan in 4/7 granules is a key element of this formulation. This natural volcanic rock ensures optimal drainage and effectively prevents root suffocation, a frequent problem in indoor growing. The balanced pH of 6.5 and the conductivity of 30 mS/M create ideal conditions for nutrients to be taken up by the plants.
This ready-to-use compost needs no particular preparation. For optimal repotting, choose a pot slightly larger than the previous one (2-3 cm more in diameter). Carefully remove the plant from its pot, gently untangle the roots if they have formed a tight ball, then place it in the new container with the Vilmorin compost.
Firm the compost moderately around the roots to avoid air pockets, then water generously until the water drains out through the drainage holes. The zip closure of the bag keeps the remaining compost in excellent condition for future repotting.
To get the most from this compost, keep to the optimal repotting interval: every 2-3 years for mature plants, annually for young growing specimens. Spring (March to May) remains the ideal period, as plants then enter their active growth phase.
Complement the action of this compost with a specialised liquid fertiliser during the growing season. Avoid the common mistake of over-watering: thanks to the pozzolan, this substrate keeps a balanced moisture level for longer. Test the moisture by pushing your finger 2-3 cm into the compost before watering.
For exotic plants or more demanding species, you can improve the drainage further by adding clay pebbles at the bottom of the pot. This compost is also perfectly suited to indoor plant arrangements and apartment planters.
